My husband and I discovered Thatcher Farms north of Rockwood. We attended a harvest dinner at Artisinale – where local farmer Thatcher Farms was the guest, offering they offered the lamb for the menu.
This husband and wife team – have transformed a family farm, into a farm store, that offers, ethical and sustainable farm practices. All livestock is well cared for and enjoys exceptional standards. It is a back to basics of the farming standards that occurred prior to big agro companies mass producing a product. There is an understanding of the important balance between crops, and animals. They all have a place on a farm, and it is this balance that Thatcher Farms is working hard to create, expand on, and partner with other local farmers.
Since we started going here – they have added more and more items to their storefront.
They have expanded to now offer baked goods, soups, cured meats, eggs, a variety of meats, and pantry items. This store is your new go-to place.
You can shop online – and pick it up at the Guelph Farmers Market Saturday Mornings, or at the farm itself.
Go get there and see for yourself. It is a beautiful drive, and the food is amazing.
